In these times of great disruption and uncertainty, Red Hat is steadfast in our commitment to providing accessible open source learning to those whose lives have been most affected. Due to COVID-19, many students and workers across the world are currently staying at home to prioritize our collective health and safety. Jobs have been impacted. Students are adapting to changed learning environments. During this time, we have an opportunity to invest in ourselves, build new skills, and prepare ourselves and our communities to emerge stronger.

Red Hat Adopt an Academy program brings Ansible Automation to Texas high schoolers

 

On January 24th, Red Hat took its Adopt an Academy program to San Antonio, Texas. CAST Tech is San Antonio’s first hi-tech high school and is an in-district charter of the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD). CAST Tech is a career-themed high school focused on coding, cyber security, gaming, entrepreneurship and more. The first class of 150 students began classes in Aug. 2017.

Spotlight blog | My journey with open source and Red Hat Academy

 

My open source learning journey started as a requirement for my initiation into a migration project. The institute where I was pursuing my Bachelor’s degree proposed a project to replace proprietary applications with open source products. Upon successful completion of the project, I got to interact with a Red Hatter who convinced me to take my open source learning further by showcasing the benefits of open source and introducing me Red Hat Academy.

UFCG’s students build open source skills with Red Hat Academy

Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG), a public university in Brazil, has a rich history of providing its students with a vast knowledge of open source skills. For over 15 years, this university has been a prominent OpenStack community contributor globally with more than 150,000 lines of developed code and 30 individual contributors. The university is also contributing to the ManageIQ community as well.

Lithuanian IT school improves student job prospects with Linux training

Kaunas Information Technology School helps Lithuanians choose a marketable profession, then develop the skills and qualifications needed to meet market demand and obtain a job in IT. To expand its Linux® and open source curricula, the school decided to offer Red Hat Training and Certification through Red Hat Academy, a partnership program with educational organizations. By offering the Red Hat Certified System Administrator course and exam, students gain hands-on experience with Linux technology, improving their job prospects, while the school improves its reputation and competitiveness in the academic community.

Red Hat launches Red Hat Academy Day events

Red Hat held a series of Red Hat Academy Day events at 30 Red Hat Academies in India. This effort was the first Red Hat Academy road-tour to be conducted globally. During these events Red Hat Academy representatives conducted a celebration for 30 Red Hat Academies and over 5,560 students who have participated in the Red Hat Academy program.
