With the June 2018 release of Red Hat OpenStack® Platform 13, you can build an on-premise cloud environment designed to accelerate your business, innovate faster, and empower your IT teams. This version of Red Hat OpenStack Platform specifically integrates OpenShift-Ansible, easing troubleshooting and deployment. Additional features include safeguarding enterprise workloads with hardened security services, helping your organization meet relevant technical and operational controls, delivering new telecommunications-specific features that allow CSPs to easily build innovative and cloud-based network infrastructure, and much more.
Red Hat® Training and Certification works tirelessly to keep up with product advances like this one. To provide you with the most up-to-date curriculum possible, we’re rolling out Red Hat OpenStack Administration I: Core Operations for Cloud Operators (CL110) now available on Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13.
This release and updated course content brings considerable improvements to your learning outcomes and classroom experiences. Including, major enhancements and stabilization that encompass service containerization, new installation and management tools, a newly designed application load balancing component, and a significant expansion of features supported by the OpenStack CLI.
Notable changes to this course include two OpenStack structural design topics:
First, the OpenStack architecture has converted major component services from being systemd-managed to being containerized. Administrators will learn to use the docker command to start, stop, query, and list installed services. Containerizing services allows OpenStack to scale easily and quickly, to be more resilient, and to more easily handle configuration management and upgrades. Second, the Packstack installation tool has been deprecated. The new installation method uses the scalable and flexible Deployment service, TripleO, running on an undercloud system known as OpenStack director. RHOSP 13 further introduces a new browser-based installation and upgrade tool for TripleO, the graphical director web UI.
This course will also teach you the skills necessary to:
- Utilize and manage the daily operation of a private cloud.
- Design and implement on-demand projects, software-defined networks, and virtual machine instances.
- Deploy a proof-of-concept OpenStack installation for practice, development, demonstration, and testing, back in your own home or business computing environment.
- Manage software-defined networks such as subnets, routers, floating IP addresses, images, flavors, security groups/rules, and block and object storage.
- Create and customize advanced VM instances as applications, customize on deploy, and create scalable stacks of multiple VM applications.
- Create and use project resources built of networks and services running templated applications, in customizable and adaptable configurations, virtually eliminating the need to build physical systems for any new projects.
Selecting the course version for your learning path:
As you register for and complete Red Hat OpenStack Administration I: Core Operations for Cloud Operators (CL110), Red Hat Training recommends you learn with the OpenStack version that matches your company's infrastructure, either as currently built or as planned in a near future upgrade. We strongly recommend pursuing the same Red Hat OpenStack Platform version when scheduling each subsequent course and exam in the OpenStack learning path. Meaning, if you have already completed this course on Red Hat OpenStack 10, then you should either continue your learning journey on the same product version or re-take Red Hat OpenStack Administration I: Core Operations for Cloud Operators (CL110) on RHOSP 13. Red Hat OpenStack Administration II (CL210) is currently based on RHOSP 10, but will also be available on version 13 soon, with the title of Red Hat OpenStack Administration II: Infrastructure Configuration for Cloud Administrators (CL210). After this course update is launched, you will still have the opportunity to purchase the previous course version on RHOSP 10 if needed.
