We are happy to announce that we held the first Red Hat Academy partner summit in Raleigh, NC on July 14, 2017. This event brought together some of the brightest minds within the southeast region of North America who are members of the Red Hat Academy.

In attendance we had representation from the following schools:

Honoring the spirit of collaboration, this event brought together many contributors: Global Learning Service leadership, Opensource.com evangelists, technology hiring managers and Red Hat Academy Alumni and representatives from across the southeast.

OPEN SOURCE AND THE OPEN ORG

Jason Hibbets the Senior Evangelist of opensource.org, shared the story of opensource and how the Open Organization book was developed. His story was a strong start of the event and a way to empower our education leaders on the power of open source and the Red Hat Academy.

RED HAT ACADEMY PARTNERSHIP

Ken Goetz and John Allessio were a dynamic duo in highlighting how the Red Hat Academy partnership is a “win, win” for both Red Hat and the academic institutions. This partnership works to bridge the skills gap between industry and education.

  

RED HAT MANAGER PANEL SESSION

IT managers from The Red Hat Global Support Services and IT Technology groups shared their input and opinions on what they look for in IT candidates to fill positions on their team. Great insights were shared on skills that are important to an IT team, what they look for in terms of fitting the “Red Hat way” and how the Red Hat Academy can help them find qualified candidates.

RED HAT ACADEMY ALUMNI PANEL SESSION

This panel showcased two of Red Hat’s Solution Architects within our sales organization. Robin Price and Kesler Strickland shared their experiences within the Red Hat Academy and how it was a key contributor to introducing them to Linux and shaping their career in the IT industry.

CERTIFICATION AND RED HAT ACADEMY NEW CONTENT

Randy Russell, Director of Red Hat Certification shared upcoming advancements in our curriculum and certification offerings. Digital transformation is an ongoing theme this year and Red Hat Training and Certification is working diligently to create “best in class” content that can be offered in our commercial and academic setting.
